Original Art For Sale on my website…

•July 2, 2009 • Leave a Comment

I’m moving in a couple of days…I see that I cannot bring my paintings nor do I have a safe place to store them…so what does that mean? That means I have to try my best to sell them quick! If you are interested or just would like to take a look, you can check them out here www.jerisamacalino.com/original.html . The link to that is also on the front page of my website under updates.

The records have the option of arriving framed. You will notice that in the price selection. It is an album cover/vinyl record black frame with masonite backing and glass cover.

Payments are through Paypal because it’s safer for the both of us. And no you do not need an account to make a purchase. If you have any questions what-so-ever, shoot me an email at jerisa.macalino@gmail.com .

If they don’t sell I’m going to have to ship them which I would prefer not to do. So if you know anyone who collects art, or can appreciate a lil urban art in their home or studio, please pass the word :)

Thanks again folks…much love!

Themed/Painted Rooms

•May 30, 2009 • Leave a Comment

Lately…well just today, I’ve been feeling sort of uninspired. Whenever that happens, I flip through my pictures and old pieces. It usually works and in this case it does. I mentioned this to some of my friends but I can’t believe I haven’t posted this on my blog…they’re pictures from my niece’s bedroom. My two nieces, the most adorable lil girls you’ll ever meet, wanted themed bedrooms and so I was happy to oblige. One of them was an island/beach theme and the other was Toki Doki! Well, here are some pics…

I like to let them add a lil bit of their own touch to it…

Unfortunately I didn’t have any great pics of the finished Toki Doki room but here it is in the process…all sideways.

Hope this inspires some of you to pick up a brush…and go crazy on a big empty blank wall in your room. Til next time…

Yo check out the new layout! You likes? I do! Well, aside from this there have been a couple of things keeping me busy lately. As I promised in a previous update, there would be some news that I would be sharing with you in the summer. Nothing big, but it’s something definitely meaningful to me. I will be posting that update in May because that’s when things should be good to go. Thanks again for the support. Love ya!

CREATIVE INSTINCT: the aftermath

•October 16, 2008 • Leave a Comment

*Sigh* I can’t believe it’s been a week since the show and I’m just now posting this. Thank you to all who came through!! Thank you to everyone for your support, your love, your interest, and encouragement for what we do. Also I want to thank those who drove a long way to be there that night! Thank you! Santa Cruz to San Jose to Los Angeles. And of course, thank you to the artists for agreeing to participate and working so hard on your pieces. There was so much goin on that night..I’ll just let the pictures do all the talking.

It was a success!! We had guests come in as early as 8pm. It got pretty packed and it stayed that way for the longest. The music was great, the DJ’s were great, but the venue turntables were not!! Anyway, thank you DJ Olly and DJ Freestyle!!

It was a crazy night of art, music, conversation, networking, cigarettes, and Old English 40’s!! Unfortunately though, someone decided to disrespect. To whoever stole my wallet…you sure went through the trouble to get it…all I have to say is karma is a bitch. Enjoy it.

Anyway, here are some pics!! You can see the rest of the pictures of the reception and the art HERE:

Creative Instinct at the Space Gallery in SF

So finally….the show will go on! So to bring you up to speed as to how the process went down is this: I was persistent with the requests for quotes and available dates that I sent out. But alas, none of the galleries I wanted had available dates in the next two months. Then as luck had it, the very friendly and helpful owner of the Space Gallery called me back, letting me have my show there for a week :) Then, I invited a bunch of my artist friends to show with me. I would rather share the space with other artists who can appreciate it and who I think are great in what they do, plus may need more opportunities for exhibiting their work. Anyway, it’s way more fun than doing it on my own! DJ Freestyle from Zyncrawnice and DJ Olly are both great DJ’s with styles that would compliment the mood of the show. They will be spinnin at the night of the reception.

The next thing I did was went straight to work on a flier. The gallery will get it printed and help me hit up the other local galleries so we can get some interest from them to attend our show. Here’s the flier…hope to see ya’ll there!!

P.S. For more details go to….http://urbanbasement.net

Just another update…and a recommendation on a good movie!!

Hey long time no write! Got a couple of things goin guys…new art is on its way…another vinyl series and a watercolor/ink series.  im so excited, its gonna be dope. Also got that art show on its way at the end of September. So far i still have four other artists on the lineup…two djs…and a long list of guests. advertisement for the show will be towards mid August…never to early for that. and everyone is invited. the good news is it will be free all night…unlike the last show i went to..it certainly was not worth the 15 bucks at the door.

on another note…i watched Cavite the other day..its a sundance film, i believe, about a Filipino man from San Diego, California whom encounters an unfortunate series of events when he visits his homeland for the first time since his birth. its a must see…alot of interesting messages in there to get Filipinos and Filipino Americans alike thinking about the war and poverty that goes on in their homeland.
